These vintage items were made by Fabergé, from 1885 to 1917, and by French jewellers from 1900 to 1960, notably Cartier, Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels, Mauboussin, Lacloche, Janesich, and Verger Freres who designed and manufactured for Ostertag and American jewellers and fashionable outlets such as Black Starr & Frost, Blum's Vogue, Brock and Co., J. E. Caldwell.
The artistic periods covered for vintage Cartier, vintage Boucheron etc.. are the Edwardian or Belle Epoque, Art Deco, and post-war Modern-style or Retro.
Materials used are platinum, gold, silver, enamel, lacquer, precious stones (diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and pearls), hardstones (jade, nephrite, rock crystal, rose quartz, other forms of quartz, aventurine, marble, agate, onyx, lapis lazuli, coral, ivory, tortoiseshell, amber), semi precious stones (turquoise, citrine, amethyst, aquamarine, tourmaline, topaz) and special materials such as mother of pearl, kingfisher feathers and Chinese laque burgaute.
